We are told to feed the hungry, for serving them is serving God Himself. And at Seattle Community Church, we do this literally.
Once a month, members of SCC get together to cook and serve food to hundreds of homeless people in downtown Seattle. We support and recognize the relentless efforts of Kay Abe, who has brought together numerous organizations for this work. It is an inspiring time of fellowship and serving. Especially in the winter, during the cold and rain, we are humbled to see how the homeless live everyday and yet, these are our brothers and sisters in Christ.
You can get involved in numerous ways. We serve beef teriyaki, rice, salad, and fruit; which is a big hit among those we serve. You can help by shopping for the food, helping cut and chop the food, cooking, and actually serving the meal and meeting with our homeless friends.
If you'd like to give this a try or get more involved, contact SCC Ministry.
